Lagging Issues

I receive questions from fellow Simmers on lag issues. I’m not a techy, but I’ve done a huge amount of research to help with my game over the last year and a half. I occasionally get lag on my desktop, but it’s worse on my laptop. My desktop surpasses the minimal requirements to play TS3, while my laptop didn’t. These are general links to useful tools and information. You may not need to try all of the suggestions here. I’ll update this page and organize it a bit better in the near future. If you have any questions please send me a message or you can always tweet me @ReaganSims3Diva

I have all EPs except SN & ITF. My game usually runs smooth. I occasionally run into lag in Isla Paradiso because of the routing in that world. There’s so many things I’ve had to try to help with lag. Once I merge my packages w/ cc magic. I use Overwatch which is a mod to help with bloating. If you use mods, make sure you’re using the correct patch level for your game.

I also use Game Booster which helps with lagging.

Here are a few other resources/tricks I’ve had to try. I generally get better performance on my desktop, which surpasses the game minimal requirements. I got more lag on my laptop which didn’t meet the requirements.

Do you know if your pc/laptop meets the min requirements to run the games?

Also do you play in a custom or EA world? Not saying you have to try all of these things, but some of the info may be helpful. Even with the best systems, TS3 players still experience lag.

Simply put when I started having issues w/ my laptop and sometimes w/ my desktop, I did a Google search for Sims 3 lag. I’ve used pretty much every method applicable to my issue over the course of a year. I delete cache files before I start my game, but never the  dc cache which is your launcher and store content.

Data Execution Prevention

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature in Microsoft Windows (an implementation of the NX bit technology) that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs may attempt to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) code from system memory locations reserved for Windows and other authorized programs. These types of attacks may inflict serious harm to your computer (operating system, programs, and data).

DEP protects your computer by forbidding access to memory not reserved by the running application. If the processor notices a program on your computer using memory incorrectly, it halts exectuion (terminates the application).

Potential Cause and Solution

It seems that usually DEP crashes on The Sims 3 are triggered by the computer’s graphics driver attempting to access memory it doesn’t have permission to. You may be able to fix the problem while leaving DEP enabled by updating your graphic drivers. Instructions for indentifying your graphics device, downloading updated drivers, and installing them are available.

Whenever I use new cc, I check for corrupted files in Dashboard and Custard

Other mods I use: NRAAS Master Controller, Relativity (occasionally) Overwatch, Master Controller Cheats, Expanded Tatoo, CMAR XCAS

If you want to know my specs, please shoot me a message
